Here are our new website and app, along with a renewed digital culture
Ten years ago, we started to try to understand and explain what was happening in the world and we have always been guided by the same values: freedom, truthfulness and commitment to society.
We were born digital and we write journalism in all possible formats, from the immediacy and innovations of digital to the design and beauty of print. On 20 November 2010, we addressed you, our readers and subscribers, for the first time. You are the origin and the force behind our work.
At the time we were already talking about being a multi-platform news outlet, which is what we became before anybody else.
But time goes by and we mean by “Nothing changes if nothing changes” is that we are a newspaper that adapts to the world and is passionate about innovation and positive change. What was new then (“a multi-platform new outlet”) is now self-evident. We believe changes are necessary to continue moving forward and working towards a better future. That is why, after ten years of explaining changes to you, we present to you our own change:

BELIEVING IN CHANGE
Understanding and following current affairs had never been so easy, interactive, visual and accessible. We knew from the start which was our path for change and where we wanted to arrive at: the best option to maintain the free, rigorous and committed information our readers want, and publish it in the clearest and most visual way possible.
Not only are we showing you our new web and apps, but also a new digital culture. At ARA, we have renewed our dynamics and workflows in order to create digital-first content.
Current affairs are organised according to the topics of the day. This means you will be up to date with the latest developments in the areas that interest you and the latest news.
That is why we have developed a more powerful search engine, which will make it much easier for you to find the content you are looking for. We do not want you to waste your time.
CURRENT AFFAIRS ARE NOW
We will report the latest news live in our new “Ara Mateix”. These will be shorter pieces, which you can filter according to the topics of the day or sections. We are análisis but also immediacy.
DISCOVER. IN DEPTH
The excess of immediate information, often caused by the frantic pace of the day-to-day, has led us to create “Discover”. This is an area where you will find long, in depth, timeless articles – a daily pick of our best journalism and analysis.
COMMENTS AT ANOTHER LEVEL
We create ARA with you and for you. Your comments are very useful. They enrich us, which is why we have created a new communication network for our subscribers, where you can share your points of view and interact with other subscribers through the comment section.
The debate between subscribers enriches our content and we take into account suggestions, proposals and criticism. You can comment on a whole article or just a section, reply to and rate other comments, as well as mention other subscribers who will be notified.
FROM CATALUNYA TO THE WORLD
We are a newspaper made and conceived in Catalan. We want to make our vision known to the world. That is why, from now on, content originally written in Catalan will be translated into English and Spanish. We want to explain what is happening in Catalonia to the whole world. Now, a Scotsman can read about Catalonia’s situation from a Catalan point of view in English, while someone from Madrid may do so in Spanish.

We want you to navigate easily and find what you want. In your subscriber or registered reader profile, you can find your activity all in one place and in order: all the articles you have saved, in chronological order; the comments you have made; the journalists, newsletters and topics you follow.
You can also manage and personalise your notifications and edit or check your personal data and ARA account.
You can also access the Subscriber Space, where you will find exclusive offers for culture and leisure activities.
FROM 5 TO 10
Many subscribers believe the five-article monthly cap means ARA pieces reach far fewer readers. We have decided the best solution is to allow non-subscribers to read five free articles more, taking the total up to 10.
Most of you read us through your phones, which is why we are launching the new ARA App for iOS and Android, with all functionalities described above. The most comfortable way to read us when and where you want.
